About Fran Burstall

I am a differential geometer working at the University of Bath (since 1983!). Professionally, I think about the intersection of geometry and integrable systems (harmonic maps, isothermic surfaces and the like). I am also a competitive kite flyer (UK dual-line champion in indi, pairs and team over the years) and am now learning to fly four-line kites. Finally I am an enthusiast of and occasional contributor to open source software, especially the emacs editor/lisp machine.
