The Spink Upper lake in Glendalough on the Wicklow Way is an incredible spot for taking in the natural beauty of the area. The viewpoint offers stunning panoramic views of the Upper Lake and the surrounding Wicklow Mountains. It's a great spot to stop and take a break while hiking the Wicklow Way. The viewpoint is easy to access and it's a great spot for photography, especially during sunset or sunrise. The area around the viewpoint is also a great spot for birdwatching, and it's a great spot to spot some of the local wildlife. The Spink Upper lake in Glendalough is a must-see destination for anyone exploring the Wicklow Way and it's a great way to take in the natural beauty of the area. I highly recommend it.

The tour of the Spinc ridge and the White Route takes you up and around the spectacular Glendalough Valley. The tough climb is rewarded with breathtaking views of the Valley and the surrounding Wicklow mountains. The trail goes up by Poulanass Waterfall before joining the amazing boardwalk and wooden steps leading to the spectacular viewing point overlooking the Upper Lake. On the other side of the valley you decent down a rocky trail to the deserted Miners Village where a path takes you back into Glendalough.

The Spinc ridge overlooking the spectacular Glendalough Valley makes for one of the finest if not 'the' finest hikes in the Wicklow Mountains National Park. A tough climb rewards you with breathtaking views of the Glendalough Valley, the lake and the surrounding Wicklow mountains. Along with the sights at the monastic centre this makes for a world class hike. To top it off you get to meet a lot of Irish people who are simply world class in their own right!

Hier verläuft nahezu parallel zum Wanderweg der wilde Fluss Glenealo.

Glendalough Miners' Village

Die Gründung des Bergwerkes in Glendalough Valley geht zurück bis ins Jahr 1790. Auf dem Höhepunkt der Produktion waren hier rund 2.000 Bergarbeiter damit beschäftigt, Blei, Zink und Silber zu fördern. 1957 war damit Schluss.

Glendalough Monastic Site and Round Tower

Im Tal der zwei Seen im Wicklow Mountain Nationalpark findest du neben dieser besonderen Naturmischung aus Seen, Bergen und dem einzigartigen Grün der irischen Waldlandschaft die berühmte Klostersiedlung Glendalough. Klar, Bilder der Klostersiedlung in den Wicklow Mountains finden sich in bestimmt jedem Reiseführer. Doch die Atmosphäre zwischen den Jahrhunderte alten Überresten der Anlage des heiligen Kevins lädt die Luft auf. Fast vibriert es um dich herum aufgrund der langen und spirituellen Historie, der du hier begegnest. Für mich einer der beeindruckendsten Orte in Irland – auch eine Wanderung durch das Tal lohnt sich. Wichtig: Das Kloster ist ein sehr beliebtes touristisches Ziel. The Round Tower

Dieser Rundturm ist ca. 30 Meter hoch und hat 6 Stockwerke. In einer Höhe von 3,6 m gibt es eine Tür die man mit einer Leiter erreichen konnte.
